To all the young girls out there...
www.youtube.com Ha I choked on air at the end when I said Dio, so that tripped me up and made me forget some stuff, but yeah I'll always love Dio and I also meant to say this is not to say you have to not like that stuff, because obviously if you would like it even if everyone hated it or no one had ever heard of it, like you still listen to Aaron Carter or Debbie Gibson, or you were stranded on a desert island with no one to impress and you still liked it, then good for you, you're doing it for yourself, just that you should know you don't ever have to like it, and maybe it lies in the fact that that's all there is today, like if you show people good music, they will like it and we can get rid of this stuff, I guarantee you most of the people who are following the glossy stuff have never heard of Tad, Love Battery, Screaming Trees, Skin Yard, Sky Cries Mary, Overlord, Little Bears From Bangkok etc., I mean I've heard so many times "Well I don't like it but it's all there is! so we have to like it". Yeah, that should stop. Ha, one of my favorite personal sayings is "I'll take my pink dolly and go over her and headbang thank you very much." Oh, and if you want some good pop, listen to The Vaselines, The Ramones, Nirvana, Beat Happening, Daniel Johnston, Flop, Shonen Knife, Half Japanese, The Beatles, Teenage Fanclub, Tullycraft etc., pop is good, I don't know why they call this new stuff pop. Oh, and the song in the background is 500 Foot Jesus by Feast www.youtube.com Well ...

The Soul Stirrers:Wade in the Water live at DuSable High School in Chicago, illinois Sept. 1968
One of the most popular and influential gospel groups of the 20th century, the Soul Stirrers were pioneers in the development of the quartet style of gospel and, without intending it, in the creation of soul music, doo wop, and motown sound, some of the secular music that owed much to gospel. The group was formed by Roy Crain, who had launched his first quartet, which sang in a jubilee style, in 1926 in Trinity, Texas. In the early 1930s, after Crain moved to Houston, he joined an existing group on the condition that it change its name to "the Soul Stirrers." The name "Soul Stirrers" yields from the description of one of Roy Crain's earlier quartets as "soul-stirring". Among the members of that group was RH Harris, who soon became its musical leader. The Soul Stirrers formed as a Jubilee quartet, transformed their sound, influenced by many hard gospel singers such as Mahalia Jackson and Sister Rosetta Tharpe. Rebert Harris, also from Trinity, Texas, brought several changes t! o the Soul Stirrers that affected gospel quartet singing generally. He used a falsetto style that had its antecedents in African music, but which was new to the popular jubilee singing style of the time. He pioneered the "swing lead", in which two singers would share the job of leading the song, allowing virtuoso singers to increase the emotional intensity of the song as the lead passed between them without disturbing the four part harmony. That innovation led the Soul Stirrers, while still called a ...
